    After some blood tests requested by his GP, John was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Gemma is in regular phone contact with John, as he gets used to his diagnosis, providing him with support and guidance, as he makes some changes to his lifestyle.

    Rebecca, a keen runner was referred by her GP for physiotherapy, due to ongoing and unresolved knee pain.

    Rebecca’s referral indicated a wait of up to 12 weeks for her initial physio appointment, so she contacted the Nurse Champion service and was introduced to her assigned nurse, Juliet.

    With Rebecca’s consent, Juliet made regular contact with the referral unit and was able to secure a late cancellation appointment for Rebecca, within a few days.

    Within a few weeks of the first call with Juliet, and after some sessions of physio, Rebecca is on the road to recovery, hoping to take part in the company fun run in June.

    After receiving a breast cancer diagnosis, Alice shared the news with her line manager, who reminded her of the Nurse Champion service she had access to.

    After initial contact, Alice received a call from Sarah, her assigned nurse. They talked through some specific questions Alice had about her diagnosis.

    Sarah sourced a second opinion from a renowned specialist in London. The review validated the diagnosis but suggested an alternative course of treatment.

    Sarah helped Alice share the review with her consultant, who agreed to the alternative course of treatment. Alice is now recovering, with Sarah in regular contact.
